Reading level: Ages 6-10

Paperback: 130 pages

Book overview: It is spring and Running River is in full flood. Tiptoes Lightly and Jeremy Mouse visit Greenleaf the Sailor and they venture forth in Greenleaf’s newly made boat. Soon they are joined by Pine Cone and Pepper Pot the Gnomes and together they search for the Lost Lagoon the frogs have been so beautifully singing about. Meanwhile, back home, Farmer John reads ‘The Adam Tales’ to Tom Nutcracker and June Berry. Later, Tom rides off in the night until he too comes to the Lost Lagoon. What happens on this night, with its majestic, rising moon, is filled with a wonder and magic that won’t soon be forgotten.

About the author: Reg Down grew up in Canada, Namibia, South Africa and Ireland. He trained as a eurythmist, an art of movement and gesture, in England and Germany. The father of three, he has taught eurythmy in Waldorf schools in Australia, Canada and the United States. Many of his children’s books arose out of his work with kindergarten and the younger grades. He is on the faculty of Rudolf Steiner College, Fair Oaks, CA, and is the author of Leaving Room for the Angels, AWSNA Publications, a book on eurythmy and artistic pedagogy, and Color and Gesture—the Inner Life of Color, Lightly Press.

My youngest daughter has learning disabilities so this age range book would be great for her to read. She has trouble reading books for her age group & it looks like a book she would actually pick up to read on her own.I also love the cover of the book. There’s nothing better than books,so having a chance to win one is absolutely amazing! I hope we win!

    • Reg Down says:

Can I ask how old your daughter is Renee? All the best – Reg Down

      • Renee Alam says:

Hi! She’s almost 12….we homeschool now but last year she was in school & she would get very frustrated b/c she was always made to read kindergarten books b/c it’s hard for her to understand bigger books…she can read most words but has trouble in comprehension(and other areas) but it always made her hate books b/c she could never get older kids books at school.
        Renee :)

        • Reg Down says:

Thanks for replying Renee. Yes, your daughter is caught in a catch 22. I sympathize. Perhaps my book(s) would be good in terms of word usage. The content … ? … this depends on your daughter. You could try a child friendly version of the Greek myths, kids of that age tend to lap them up. Read some to her and see if it sparks an interest. That’s my sixpence worth, anyways. All the best … and good luck with the draw! Reg

          • Renee Alam says:

Thanks for the reply….well,if we do win it,I’ll try reading it with her to help her & I know my 14 year old would still like to read it…she’s a bookworm & will read all types of books. :)
            Renee
