Penengro is the story of a young orphan boy who runs away from his adoptive parents and joins a community of gypsies. The story is set in Ireland in the mid-20th century. It’s an exciting tale of a child who, when adopted because of his resemblance to the couple’s dead son, escapes and finds acceptance and support in a culture historically scorned by mainstream society. Penengro is filled with adventure, and written with sensitivity and pride in its depiction of Romany culture. First published in 1972 by Farrar, Straus & Giroux, this softbound edition was published in April 2010 by Boissevain Books.

Penengro is available for sale at amazon.com for $9.95 (softbound). Bulk orders are available. Please direct all inquiries to Boissevainbooks@gmail.com
