Giveaway: Get Out Of My Head, I Should Go To Bed

By Bianca Schulze, The Children’s Book Review
Published: August 28, 2011

This author will put you to sleep.   Literally. And that’s a good thing. Author, Susan Pace-Koch and illustrator, Jeremy Kwan teamed up to create a beautiful, bedtime book. We have one (1) signed copy to giveaway to one lucky reader! Giveaway begins August 28, 2011, at 12:01 A.M. PST and ends September 24, 2011, at 11:59 P.M. PST.

Reading level: 3-8  (grandparents love this book, too!)

Hardcover: 28 pages

Book overview: The book is about kids who are too busy to go to sleep. They are thinking about cowboys and kittens and pirates and dinosaurs and blocks and wagons and all sorts of things…but not sleep.

There are ten different kids, of young ages (3-8) and ethnic groups, who are just plain busy!  Each child has his/her own page, and at the end of this picture book, yep, they are all asleep. Delightful art is in rich deep colors with simple rhymes.

The kids are all tired, and, fight it, as kids do, but the Good Night Poem at the end of the book, is the final straw to put them to rest, and they are ready for dreamland. A Hide and Seek page is provided by Get Out Books to find the clues of each page to the back and front cover. Most children identify with one or more of the little kids…and I know the adults do!  Get Out Books has had many requests for an adult version of the book, but that wouldn’t be nearly so fun!

Additionally, bookmarks have been made representing each child in the book, custom, full color front and back, high quality, laminated card stock and rounded corners (for safety).

Get Out Books is also involved in community outreach with donations to Bay Area Crises Nursery, The Gabriel Project, and local school and community libraries.

About the author: Susan Pace-Koch was born in Alaska, raised in Washington, and resides in California. A background in marketing, sales and accounting has given her the business basis for a successful new venture publishing company.

Get Out Books was established to publish a series of quality children’s books that are about kids Getting Out…out of the house, outside to play, out and in, to their own imaginations. The world of imagination is so vast and varied that new possibilities for words and art are endless. This is a hardback book with dust jacket, 28 pages.

Susan enjoys the challenge of bringing people and stories together with careful selection of artists, designers, printers and graphic artists. This shows, in the first book release of “Get Out Of My Head, I Should Go To Bed”, a children’s picture book, released in 2011. Susan has met so many creative, talented people that it makes book creation interesting, challenging and fun, but not work!

She is turning her creative energy and attention to the children’s books that she loves. She woke up one morning at the Grand Canyon with this story title in mind, and ‘couldn’t get it out of her head’.

Get Out Books has been very supportive of non-profits and charities with book donations for young children and families and libraries.

About the illustrator: Jeremy Kwan is a native Californian, raised in Vallejo, California. At an early age, he learned to pay close attention to the ideas that floated in his mind, especially the ones that made good drawings.

He has worked with mosaic tiles, children’s book illustrations, printmaking and other art mediums.  He is able to take a concept and interpret it into various art forms, bringing each dimension to life. Jeremy has worked with talented artists from the San Francisco Bay Area, learning technical skills as well artistic applications.

Jeremy received an excellent art education at Solano Community College, then San Francisco State University from inspiring and supportive professors.

In “Get Out Of My Head, I Should Go To Bed”, Jeremy brought the characters into being with gouache, bringing deep rich colors into each character. Both children and adults relish the book art and characters for the clever depictions and the warm inviting personalities of the kids.

Jeremy is currently at work on the second book title “Get Outside for an Amazing  Adventure Ride”.  Estimated publication date 2012, Hardback with dust jacket, 32 pages.
