The Winter of the Sea Dragon begins with a baby, Maia, whose mother dies giving birth to twins, though not before passing on a great secret that has passed down her family for many generations. Maia and her sister Polly are left with foster parents in an orphanage, but as they grow up an extraordinary winter descends, bringing endless snow and ice. Maia’s friend Griff, a swamp ogre, tells her that it’s being caused by a sea dragon, Thunder Beast, who has almost recovered from terrible injuries inflicted on him by human beings hundreds of years before. When Maia also learns that she holds the key to Thunder Beast’s downfall, she risks the anger of her caregivers and sets out with Polly and friends Titus, Davey, Otis and Meg to find the evil beast and destroy him. This story will be enjoyed both by children, teens and adults who enjoy stories that combine adventure and fantasy.
