    By Billy Steers

    Hardcover: 24 pages

    Age Range: 4-8

Publisher: Tractor Mac LLC (March 25, 2013)

What to expect: Tractors, Trains, Farm life, Family

The creative author-illustrator Billy Steers has added another appealing book to his Tractor Mac books—an easy to follow series geared to children who love machinery, things that go and farm life.

Tractor Mac loves to harvest and he loves his neighbor’s field … the one with train tracks running through it. Many kids will relate to Mac’s fascination of the sleek machine that travels these tracks, namely the blue train Iron Dave. Sibley the workhorse, Mac’s confidant, is afraid of Iron Dave’s sounds—but not Mac, he loves Dave’s many families of matching cars (stock, passenger, tank, hopper and flat) that come “hissing and clicking” by. Mac has a moment of proudness when he believes that he is more unique than all of these matching cars, but he soon wishes to be part of a family too. Iron Dave has a surprise in stall for Mac—one that showcases that we are all unique and yet we are all also similar. However, even stronger is the story’s message of how true family and friends are connected and forever bonded.

Tractor, truck and train loving fans will get wrapped up in Mac’s own excitement of the many glorious moving machines showcased in this book—not to mention the detailed and labeled endpaper illustrations of Iron Dave and Tractor Mac. Steers is very talented with his watercolor paints and paintbrush and has created a believable farming backdrop. While parents enjoy the classic appeal of the artwork and storyline, the colorful pictures that boast characters with accessible and relatable expressions will draw in the little garage set.

Young children, especially boys, eat the Tractor Mac books up and Tractor Mac: Family Reunion will be as easily digested as its predecessors.
