What to expect: Animals, Counting, and Rhyming

Based upon the picture book Giraffes Can’t Dance, this sturdy and colorful board book is a fun way for little ones to learn how to count to ten. Each number features a different animal dancing. Not only does this book teach the basics of counting, but it also teaches children about animals and dance through the rhythmic and rhyming text. The author utilizes alliteration to capture the attention of its readers with phrases such as “two leaping leopards” and “five fine flamingos,” and the illustrations indicate the animal’s emotions. This allows little ones to piece together words, images, and feelings in a fun and interactive way.

It is a great book to read to little one’s starting at 1 year old so that they begin to hear these concepts. It even has colorful, sturdy, animal-shaped tabs, perfectly sized for little hands to help turn the page.  This book continues to be very effective up until age 4 or 5 when children can begin to read the pages themselves. Giraffes Can’t Dance: Number Rumba Counting Book is a wonderful way to introduce numbers in a fun and interactive way and will help children gain counting confidence!
