As the first book in the Silly Willy Winston Children’s Book Series, young readers are introduced to Silly Willy Winston, the steadfast friend, and unlikely hero of the series. Silly Willy Winston is a Basset Hound with the biggest ears ever, a stout frame, huge paws, and a super large snout. These traits can seem a bit awkward at first since he trips over his ears and paws often which can make him a bit of a clown. However, young readers are taken along with Silly Willy Winston on a journey of self-discovery, awareness, and acceptance. Along with Silly Willy Winston, they learn that while these traits can seem a bit awkward at times — they are just what he needs to help his friends to overcome fears, embrace challenges and have amazing adventures. You see, Silly Willy Winston uses these traits to take on a variety of secret identities. What are these secret identities? You need to read the book to find out.

    About Donna Maguire

I have always been a fan of children, curiosity, and imagination. After a personal loss, I left the advertising business behind to care for my grandbabies in Nevada. As I have done with my daughter Kaitlin, my niece and nephews I read to them often.

I loved seeing the reactions of my grandbabies as the characters came to life. I also believe that the love of reading is more nurture than nature. Something happened when having a new audience to read to—I was given a wonderful gift—my childlike wonder and curiosity were returned to me. It seemed only natural to make full use of this gift, to harness it and pursue my life-long passion for writing children’s books. With my grandbabies as muses what better time to start?

My Basset Hound, ‘Silly Willy Winston’ with the biggest ears ever, super large snout and huge heart provided ideal fodder as the main character in a children’s book series. He embodies all the qualities we hope for our children, including self-discovery, awareness, and acceptance, along with love, compassion and friendship. By nature, Silly Willy Winston is naturally curious, loves to follow trails and great at finding things. He is after all a Basset Hound. This makes him perfect for nurturing a child’s wonder for all the world’s amazing creatures, places, cultures, and mysteries.

I would want my secret identity to have the means to give to others anonymously where it would make a difference.

My secret identity would be a wink traveler. I hate to travel but want to see my grandkids all the time. I have 2 in New Zealand, 1 an hour away, 3 4hrs away and 3 that live 1 mile away . It would be so awesome to just blink and be there to spend the day with them or bring them back home with me.
