What to expect: Fun with Daddy, parenting, togetherness, adventure.

This series takes the everyday and makes it magical for parent and child. There really is fun to be had in the little things, whether it’s reading a story or heading to the local beach. To a child, everything is an adventure, and the DAISY DARLING series captures that joy and excitement. Daisy and her Daddy are brought to life in squiggly illustrations that capture little one’s attention. I especially like the mischievous behavior of Daisy. She’s exactly like a real toddler, getting in to trouble when tired Daddy accidentally falls asleep (in both books!). The dialog is adorable, too, and parents can really get in to telling the story by imitating Daddy and Daisy.

daisy-darling-lets-go-to-the-beachDaisy is a fun little girl with crazy hair who loves to hang out with her daddy. In DAISY DARLING, LET’S GO TO THE BEACH Daisy and her daddy want to do something new on their day off, and what’s better than a day at the beach? Sun and sand, here they come! They hop on their precariously overloaded bike and head to the shore. They scoop sand, apply too much sunscreen, and Daisy finds a neat home for dead fish on a lady’s sunhat. She even buries her daddy in a hill of sand, and when he wakes up, he’s covered in delightful sea creatures. What fun!

daisy-darling-lets-read-a-storyDaisy and her fun daddy are back in DAISY DARLING, LET’S READ A STORY. Everyone loves story time, especially fathers and daughters. So when Daisy picks out a story that’s a wee bit too scary, Daddy finds himself being woken up in the most unpleasant of ways. A binky in the nose? Sounds like a great idea to Daisy, imitating her storybook. Then she dumps a vase of water on him, sure that will cure his sore nose. Good job, Daisy! Then they all fall asleep.

The words are fun and accessible, of course. But it’s the daily situations made entertaining that really bring this series to life. What a fun celebration of childhood with Daddy (or caregiver!).
