Roman invites readers to guess the meaning of Polish words that are sprinkled throughout the pages and the included pronunciation guide is very helpful. Kelsea Wierenga’s mixed-media illustrations help children guess and understand the meaning behind the words. Wierenga’s mixture of photographs with overlaying digital artwork helps create a visual experience that brings the history and culture of Poland together.
