Cold Spring, NY February 4, 2018

Award winning author Raven Howell launches Shimmer, Songs of Night (Clear Fork Publishing) offering an eclectic collection of poems about nighttime. Using different forms of poetry, children ages 6 and up are invited to meet opossums, the Sandman, space creatures, and ghostly trick-or-treaters.

A Star Full of Sky (Kelsay Books) is a 25-poem middle grade poetry collection exploring both science and flights of fancy. Howell investigates the sun, galaxy, the stars, planets, comets and the universe while also incorporating more whimsical, fantastical themes appealing to young aspiring astronomers.

Shimmer’s release was announced on the New York Hudson Valley WHUD Morning Show and found the #1 Amazon ranking as Best Children’s Poetry Book release throughout November 2017. A Star Full of Sky was awarded Finalist in ATAI’s Best Children’s Book cover and won the prestigious Royal Dragonfly award as well as the Pinnacle award by NABE for Best Children’s Poetry Release.

Raven Howell is author and poet of several children’s books and she writes poetry for a variety of magazines such as Highlights for Children, Ladybug, Bumples, Stinkwaves, Fun for Kidz, Cricket, Spider, Hello Highlights, and High Five. She has received awards for poetry from the SCBWI and Poetry Soup.

“For 2018 I’ve been invited to participate in writing poetry for several anthologies from well known and favorite poets, and I’ll continue presenting my children’s writing workshops and “Raven’s Rhyme Time” in schools and libraries. Meanwhile, I am awaiting release of my rhyming picture book, My Community, published by MacClaren-Cochrane.”

Her books can be found on Amazon and B&N, and may be ordered directly from her publisher websites.
