This novel is definitely on my “top five favorites” book list, it is AMAZING!

11-year-old Alex Petroski is living with his mentally ill mom and his dog, Carl Sagan, who is named after Alex’s all time astronomy hero. His older brother, Ronnie, moved away to Las Vegas, and his dad died years ago when Alex was just three years old. Something you need to know about Alex is that he is obsessed with  rockets, like 104% obsessed with rockets.

See You in the Cosmos takes place in the summer in Rockview, Colorado, when Alex Petroski decides he wants to enter his attempt at a handmade rocket into a rocket contest all the way in New Mexico. He travels all the way there by himself, meets some friends along the way, and discovers the true answers to all the questions he has about his dad. He even finds out he has a “Terra”—you need to read the book to know what this means.

Want to hear an astronomy joke from the book? OK, why didn’t the Dog Star laugh at the comedy show? Because it was too Sirius. Get it? Because Sirius is the name of a star originally called the Dog Star. I loved this book SOOO much! It was amazing, I had never heard of Jack Cheng before I got this book, but now I definitely want to read more of his books. See You in the Cosmos is EXCELLENT and I hope you think so too.
