About the Berenstain Bears

Stan and Jan Berenstain published the first Berenstain Bears book in 1962, and the series has gone on to capture the hearts  and minds of children across generations and across the  globe. In the 50+ years since “The Big Honey Hunt,” the Bear  family has grown from three to five members; the Berenstain Bears have been translated into over a dozen languages; and  over 300 million books have been sold worldwide.

About the Author

Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write about and draw these lovable bears. Eventually he started drawing and writing about them too.  Though Stan died in 2005, and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania, in an area that looks much like the sunny dirt road deep in Bear Country.

  • My kids grew up with The Berenstain Bears getting into all sorts of trouble and working their way out with help and common sense. My grandkids like the illustrations and stories.
