What to expect: Literary classics, dinosaurs, interactive elements

Jurassic Classics is back with masters of literature – dinosaur style!

Join everyone’s favorite dinosaurs as they walk you through some of the world’s most famous works of British and American literature. Begin with William Shakespeareasaurus and read about his life and highlights of his famous works, including dino-sized versions of his famous quotes: “But soft! There squats my fairest maiden!” Children and adults will giggle at the silly dinosaur versions of famous people, and everyone will enjoy the tiny books attached to each famous dinosaur section. Inside each book is a shortened, toothfully funny version of the writer’s most famous work. Some other authors include Edgar Allan Terrordactyl and Jane Austenlovenator. After each dinosaur section, there is a brief but informative review of the real author and his or her work.

Jurassic Classics: The Prehistoric Masters Of Literature

This reptilian first taste of literary classics is an excellent way to introduce these important works to elementary-aged children. Boys and girls will love flipping through the pages of the tiny books within the book, and everyone will love the sweet and friendly dinosaurs playing people. Saskia Lacey has a gift for turning epic works of literature in to kid-friendly stories. Adults can’t help but laugh as they read the thoroughly condensed versions of serious works of fiction. Sernur Isik’s whimsical illustrations will draw in even reluctant readers. After all, who doesn’t love a silly dinosaur, especially in a waistcoat or pearls? His renderings of the actual authors are spot on and rather funny (just check out Mark Twain’s frowning visage).

An excellent entrée in to serious works of fiction, THE PREHISTORIC MASTERS OF LITERATURE will delight and engage children. Highly recommended.

She likes to read, cook, dance, travel and forward pictures of spam sculptures to friends. If she could have dinner with any author, dead or alive, it would be a toss up between J.K. Rowling and Jane Austen. They would probably eat pasta. Yes, definitely pasta. For more information, visit: www.dccmealy.com You can also find her on Twitter: @dccmealy
