What to expect: Community, bedtime, animal friends

From acclaimed author Amy Parker of the beloved NIGHT NIGHT TRAIN, as well as many other children’s favorites, NIGHT NIGHT, SLEEPYTOWN is a sweet way to wind down before bed.

Enter Sleepytown, the kindest and gentlest town around. Happy animals live and work here, and the story takes us on a route to visit them all. Goodnight, Mayor Teddy Bear, welcoming in the beloved Night Night Train full of passengers ready to get home to bed. Goodnight Farmer Cat, taking care of his smiling cows and happy chickens. Children will help you follow the path through Sleepytown with gentle rhyming and thanking each community member for their contributions to a happy and safe Sleepytown.

With cute Easter eggs (what is the baby raccoon reading at the bookstore?) and clever illustrations that will make careful readers laugh, this book will keep children entertained as you read it over and over again. The colorful and detailed images draw little readers into the world of Sleepytown, while the soft shadings and gentle expressions create a lull of contentment that pairs so well with the rhyme.

The positive vibes of recognizing and thanking each person for all their hard work (firefighters, doctors, teachers!), and thanking God for watching over it all, are all perfect ways to get little ones ready to lay down to sleep.

Highly recommended.
