What to expect: Sharing, gratefulness, and kindness

From the bestselling author and illustrator team behind the GROWING HEARTS series comes a book about appreciation, gratefulness, and sharing.

Being a toddler is hard! Gifts are so shiny and exciting, and it’s incredibly difficult to share. The little girl in this book is learning how to do those hard things – sharing her favorite red suitcase with her sister, receiving and being thankful for a new bike wrapped up just for her. Toddlers will enjoy opening the cleverly built flaps to reveal more of the story and just how much the little girl is learning about gifts and appreciation in each situation.

Our little protagonist lists all of the wonderful things that can also be gifts, too. Making a special homemade cake full of hugs and kisses is a sweet gift for mom and dad, and holding her mom’s hand while walking down the street fills her own heart with the gift of love. Letting her sister pick the new kind of jam to open is a lesson in sharing and kindness. (She remembers that her grandfather made both of the jams with love, and he’d want her to not fight with her sister.) Even the kindness and patience of a new best friend is a fantastic gift that fills the little girl with joy.

With soft, comforting colors and whimsically fun illustrations, the lesson of sharing is easy to understand and appreciate. The cover’s cutout gift box is a delightfully interactive piece that toddlers will love. Learning to share and be grateful for all of life’s gifts (especially the intangible ones!) is lovingly played out in this adorable book.
