    Pinky Doodle Dance

Written by Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino and Kris Fuller

    Illustrated by Vova Kirichenko

    Ages 2-12 | 40 Pages

    Publisher: Waldorf Publishing | ISBN-13: 9781649214768

What to Expect: Teamwork, friendship, diversity, celebration

It’s the right time of year for a party! Pinky is so excited about the upcoming Pinky Doodle Dance—but before she and her friends can celebrate, there are lots of preparations that need to take place. Invitations need to be sent out, string lights need to be untangled and decorations need to be hung. How will Pinky get everything done on her own? That’s easy—with help from her friends! With Sally the Spider, Fred the Fox, and others, Pinky gets everything ready for the best dance party ever. Soon all the animals are showing off their dance moves and having a wonderful time.

Full of merriment and imagination, Pinky’s adventures are designed to appeal to beginner readers, and Pinky Doodle Dance is no exception. As well as the usual imaginative setting and fun characters, Pinky Doodle Dance also offers important messages about teamwork, friendship, and diversity: although the animals all have different appearances, skills, and interests, it is by working together and using their uniqueness to help the group that they are able to enjoy the party. The simple rhyming text is engaging and accessible for even the youngest readers, while the colorful cartoon-style illustrations help new readers connect words to meanings.

Overall, Pinky Doodle Dance is a delightful story that is perfect for shared reading.
