Shifting readers’ focus from the usual emphasis on eating and consuming, the story instead asks readers to pause and appreciate the things that really make a meal celebratory: good company and the feeling of belonging. Although the characters are all animals, the variety of foods they bring to the table emphasizes diversity in a way often missing from Thanksgiving stories. Simple line illustrations filled with autumn colors complete the festive atmosphere of the story.

About the Author
