What to Expect: Spanish language children’s song with descriptions of everyday activities

Pimpón is a beloved Spanish language character that has enchanted children for generations. The lilting song that has been sung in countless classrooms in many Spanish-speaking countries tells the story of a paper doll that is getting ready for school. He washes his face, packs his lunch, and takes the bus. He happily arrives at school to spend another day with his friends learning new things. After a fun-filled day, Pimpón returns home to relax and get ready for bed.

In this new depiction, Pimpón appears as a cardboard cutout with curly hair and colorful clothing. He goes about his daily ablutions with a smile, looking forward to his day. Readers will be able to infer the meaning of the lyrics from the fun illustrations while also drawing connections to their own school day practices. At the end of the book, author Yolanda Borrás includes many fun bilingual activities for children to continue to practice their Spanish. The activities include vocabulary cards and counting games among others.

Pimpón is a fun book to introduce young children to a timeless children’s song while building their vocabulary and interest in Spanish-language themes.
