Snoodles in Space: A Wackadoodle Tale from Outer Space!

Snoodles in Space: A Wackadoodle Tale from Outer Space!

    Written by Steven Joseph

    Illustrated by Andy Case

    Ages: 4-6 | 61 Pages

    Publisher: Enigami Publishing | ISBN-13: 9788987611708

What to Expect: Family, Problem-solving, Empathy, Teamwork

Wackadoodle is just the right word to describe this oodles-of-fun space adventure, in which humorous language and an improbable plot combine to disguise some important messages about family, respect, and appreciation.

In a future when transportation is complicated and noodle-based, Briana Brainy Broodle and Ricky Rockadoodle have some pressing family problems. First, there is the feud between their uncles, Herbie Snoodleman, inventor of the Snoodle (noodle-powered car), and Sour Croodleman, whose Krautmobile was much less popular. Then, there is the fact that their parents, Norman Noodle and Sally Stroodle, are constantly belittling their achievements and pushing them to do better. However, when the alien Evil Kidoodle kidnaps Norman and Sally, this big, dysfunctional family has no choice but to join their unique talents and work together. If they want to save the planet, they’re going to need teamwork (and pickles)!

In following the adventures of Briana and Ricky, readers are encouraged to think about what it means to be a supportive family member and how to work with others even if you don’t agree with them. Andy Case’s goofy comic-book-style illustrations are particularly good at emphasizing facial expressions, further inviting readers to build their visual literacy skills and to think about how words impact feelings.

Snoodles in Space is a fun and funny introduction to science fiction for young readers with some great classroom or home discussion talking points.
