George’s curiosity, which can sometimes be mistaken for mischief, takes George on a new and captivating adventure coast-to-coast in an attempt to reunite a young elephant with her family. With the help from friends, family, and a little will-power, the adventure ends happily. The humor is entertaining, the vilains are palatable, and the scenery is delightful. So much fun for the entire family! The voices of these great characters come from a stellar line-up of stars: Tim Curry, Jamie Kennedy, Matt Lauer, Frank Welker and Jerry Lewis. The soundtrack to Follow that Monkey, created by songwriter Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, is smooth, catchy and uplifting. Wilson had a hard act to follow after the fabulous soundtrack from the first movie which had music by Jack Johnson—the latter is still my favorite, but I give Wilson’s songs a thumbs-up.
Book characters in movies are a great way to connect reluctant readers with the wonderful world of books—The Man with the Yellow Hat and Curious George are so easy to like. Visiting the library or bookstore is the perfect activity in follow-up to this movie, re-connecting your youngster with these time-honored characters while they are still fresh in his mind.
