What to expect: Beginning readers, nature, environment

This charming Environmental Book Pack features seven books for beginning readers about our planet.

This small pack of books, with each book measuring five and a half inches by six and a quarter inches, is perfect for little hands. There are seven booklets: Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Habitats, In My Garden, and Landscapes. Each book features delightful cut paper illustrations that provide a simple but unique take on the topics. Paper worms are adorable in little cars in a garden and the ocean is wide and blue construction paper, which little ones will really enjoy. They can recognize that someone created these images with scissors and construction paper just like they have in their own art kits, which can lead to some fun activities to recreate the pictures.

There are minimal words on each page, ranging from one to six words. This is great for pre-readers and early readers who are just starting on their reading journey. It’s not overwhelming, and helps children feel like they can master an entire book themselves.

The Environmental Pack- Little Reader Series-Diving

The topics are great and the element books are perfect. Water is shown for drinks, for swimming, for fishing and for bathing. This helps connect the concept of water throughout the world, and how it is all related. The same goes for the other elements, including Fire, Air and Earth. The Habitats book shows different homes (Igloos, houses and yurts!) and the Landscape and Garden books have easily recognizable images to charm little readers.

Overall these are delightful and engaging books for emerging readers. They would be great to keep in your purse for long waits at a restaurant or in the car for a long drive. I also liked how each book ended with an activity or lesson. There was even one for meditative breathing! Highly recommended.
