Browsing: Quest for Literacy

Amy Koester is the children’s librarian at the Corporate Parkway Branch of the St. Charles City-County Library District in Wentzville, Missouri. She is currently serving on the 2014 Newbery Award Committee, and she shares program plans and musings about youth services librarianship as the Show Me Librarian.

Cathy Potter is a school librarian at Falmouth Elementary School in Falmouth, Maine. She serves on the Chickadee Award committee, the 2014 Sibert Medal committee, and she co-authors The Nonfiction Detectives blog.

Nicole Fonovich, co-author and co-creator of the “Luca Lashes” series of interactive apps and eBook, is a tech-savvy mom blazing a new trail in children’s publishing. Through examining both the negative and positive effects technology has on our children, Fonoovich provides us with advice on how to partner with our children and the technology they use to enhance their educational experiences.

Lalitha is a youth services & community college librarian living in Southern California with her husband and their two boys. She decided to start a blog, Masala Reader, which would contribute to ongoing dialogue about multicultural literature for children and young adults.

Lalitha is a strong advocate of professional development, and tries to stay active in ALA by serving on committees such as YALSA’s Quick Picks for Reluctant Young Adult Readers and ALA Feminist Task Force’s Amelia Bloomer Project. We are so thankful that she found some spare time to answer our On the Shelf questions. This librarian/mommy blogger has pizazz!
