The Word Garden

by Perdita Goodenow

Available June 25, 2009

The Word Garden is a lovely book with a sweet message. The book centers on an analogy–how words are like seeds and both can result in something wonderful if they’re handled with care. The author’s thoughtful message is a gentle reminder that words can sometimes hurt and we should choose our words carefully lest they become weeds in our garden. It’s a reminder that we can all use from time to time.

  • There are a lot of books written for children out there that teach, but none as important as teaching children how to treat others and how important words can be. This is a book every child should have and read over and over!

  • With the growing dangerous continued practice of bullying beginning on elementary playgrounds, The Word Garden is a timely work. I bought this book for my twin nieces (age 5) and nephew (age2). They all love reading it with me and they ask about how they should use their words. The Word Garden by far is a delightful read for children (heck…I learned a lot from it as I read it to them)(smile)!
