Lincoln Books: Learning About President Lincoln

By Bianca Schulze, The Children’s Book Review
Published: January 1, 2013

One hundred and fifty years ago on January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which has been noted as one of the most historically important documents of civil rights. From his poor upbringing, his successful leadership and his assassination, Abraham Lincoln is one fascinating guy and the following books certainly do him justice. Each one is outstanding in its own right and they will all undoubtedly captivate their intended audiences.

  • Bianca,I think this a great list of books on one of the greatest emancipator of the human kind! These books seem to cover every thing about this great person, his beard, relationship with his wife, his vision for United States, his assassination and even grave. I think children will be highly amused and entertained by the story on why he grew his beard? The book on his dream would let kids know, how ahead was this man of his times? This book would also inspire kids to dream big and become a better person.

But I think there should also be some books on American Civil war, his role in it and how his firm views and actions transformed the American society forever. Moreover there should be books on how he acted as catalyst to improve the social and economic status of black Americans and pave the way for today’s liberal, multicultural and thriving America?
