About the Author

Susanne Aspley is mother of two children enrolled in Chinese Immersion at Excelsior Elementary, MN. She retired as a Sergeant First Class, US Army Reserve, serving 20 years as a photojournalist in Kuwait, Bosnia, Panama and Cuba.  She is also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, Thailand, where she taught English, ate spicy food and raised ducks.  She worked on a kibbutz for a year in Israel as well as worked in Yorkshire England.  Susanne holds a BA in English Literature with a Minor in Film from the University of Minnesota.  She loves her elderly poodle, surly cat and rescued pitbull.

About the Illustrator
