THE PRACTICE PET

Author: Anne Scully

Illustrator: Robert Scully

Publisher: Storypanda

From the author-illustrator duo Anne and Robert Scully comes a heartwarming story about friendship. The Practice Pet is about a little boy named Sammy who wants a pet more than anything in the world. After loads of begging, his dad finally agrees to get him a “practice pet” from the toy store. But after some mysterious events, Sammy winds up with a real snake instead of a toy one! Sammy discovers the care required in looking after a real pet.

The Practice Pet is an interactive book app great for kids aged two to eight. Animations and sounds engage children throughout the story. Tapping on the pages reveals interactive points that make Sammy and his pet snake come to life. On the iPad families can choose their favourite activities for Sammy and his new pet to play. Would you like them to go on a boat ride? To the fairgrounds? Or make sandcastles at the beach? Choose a new adventure every time you read as you teach your kids the responsibilities that come with having a pet.

The Practice Pet is the third book from Robert and Anne Scully. His playful illustrations bring a childlike wonder to his wife’s story. Their first book is called Jack and The Lost Tooth and was followed by their book titled Stumble Trip Fall. The pair live in New York with their two children.

The Practice Pet was published by Storypanda Digital Publishing in October 2013. Storypanda turns little readers into little authors with creative storytelling.
