Soldier Ron: Stay close! is the first story of Ron, a trainee soldier in the cadets and the fun and adventures he has trying to follow in the footsteps of his heroes in the military services.

Ron’s’ best friends are fellow trainees Pilot Penny and Sailor Miles. They combine their complementary skills and personalities to tackle the training challenges they are set and the strong theme running throughout is that of deep comradeship.

The story starts with the cadets being briefed on an outdoor exercise. Their sergeant finishes his instructions by reminding them that they must stay together at all times and then they march off. It isn’t long though before Ron comes up with his own version of ‘stay close’ and that’s when the adventure begins…

Fortunately the rescue vehicles Bean the helicopter, Rip the rescue boat and Forbey the offroad truck are on hand to help Miles and Penny save the day!

Soldier Ron is written as a read or read-along-with for 4- to 8-year-olds but the story, style and characters will be appreciated by many who are older or younger. Beautifully illustrated in a distinctive style, the book has the structure and pace of an animated cartoon that keeps the reader engaged right to the end. More details can be found on the soldierron website, which will be updated with developments of new stories and characters.
