This month, A Boy and a Bear in a Boat, by Dave Shelton, is still The Children’s Book Review’s best selling middle grade book. And we’re very happy to add the very popular Kid President’s Guide to Being Awesome and The Terrible Two to our selection from the nationwide best selling middle grade books, as they appear on The New York Times.

If you’re hooked on Kid President then this month is your month for new release kids books. This month’s selection of best new kids books includes Kid President’s Guide to Being Awesome and Richelle Mead’s conclusion to the Bloodlines series.

Cathy Potter is a school librarian at Falmouth Elementary School in Falmouth, Maine. She serves on the Chickadee Award committee, the 2014 Sibert Medal committee, and she co-authors The Nonfiction Detectives blog.

TCBR is so happy to shine the spotlight on Cathy Potter!

Elizabeth Bird is the Youth Materials Specialist of New York Public Library. She is also the sensational voice of the School Library Journal’s A Fuse #8 Production and has served on Newbery. In her usual jaunty manner, Elizabeth talked to TCBR about becoming a librarian and shared many not-to-miss books, new and old.

Mac Barnett strikes us as kind of a mad genius. He’s published many bestselling books and he’s infused his delightfully offbeat sense of humor back into the land of children’s literature. It’s a pleasure to share his thoughts on some of his favorite books, time travel, his picture book manifesto, his undisputed rivalry with Adam Rex, and that remarkable sleuth Harriet the Spy with our readers.
