In More Tales for Your Monkey’s Mind, author Steve Michael Reedy introduces a series of short stories with marvelous morals and interrelated themes. Readers will be shocked, surprised and thrilled as they turn the pages of these short, but thoroughly engrossing, tales.

The stories take place in small towns where things are not always what they seem. Chock full of details and smart dialogue, readers will quickly be swept up in the intrigue. The first tale centers on a nefarious chef that makes some outsize claims all while some purples hippos are dancing about. One smart child figures out the scheme and makes some surprising decisions to outwit the crooked chef.

In another tale, a large clock in the center of town can be seen by everyone, far and wide. But this is a clock unlike any other, a “complex marvel of mechanical ingenuity” that controls all the comings and goings in the town. It tells the people when to wake up and when to leave for work, when to eat and when to sleep. But what happens when one young boy is always late?

Young children manage to decipher the clues and solve the mysteries in these clever tales. The stories encourage children to be themselves and to dream and sing and enjoy the pleasures of childhood without succumbing to the bad intentions of some adults. More Tales for Your Monkey’s Mind is sure to please even the most reluctant readers with its fast-paced prose, interspersed poetry and detailed illustrations. The cleverly written moral tales will also be a good jumping off point for parents and children to delve into larger questions of good and evil.
