Through the metaphor of the garden and its engaging insect characters, the story demonstrates the idea that we are stronger and happier when we work together. Leen Roslan’s bright and colorful illustrations really complete the story, adding humorous detail and expression to the insects, from the Earthworm’s hard hat to the bees’ safety jackets and angry scowls. Simple sentences and vocabulary keep the text accessible for beginner readers, while sensory detail makes the story perfect for shared reading too.

About the Author
Carole P. Roman is the award-winning author of over fifty children’s books. Whether it’s pirates, princesses, spies, or discovering the world around us, her books have enchanted educators, parents, and her diverse audience of children of all ages.
