Santa’s Magic Bootprints: A Family Tradition Begins …

By Dan K. Beard, illustrated by Jenice Lan

Hardcover: 32 pages

Age Range: 3-7

Publisher: DBeard Creations (2012)

What to expect: Santa, Mrs. Clause, Magic, Tradition

In the true spirit of Christmas magic, author Dan Beard introduces families to a whole new tradition that involves an imaginative tale about Santa Claus and 15 magic self-stick bootprints for children to discover on Christmas morning.

For every child who has ever wondered ‘how does Santa Claus remember where every child lives’ and ‘how will he find me,’ this could be the story that you’re looking for. With the concern of Santa becoming forgetful and to avoid him forgetting where children live, Mrs. Claus concocts a glittering magic dust which Santa coats his boots with; every time he visits a home he leaves a magical bootprint trail behind on the rooftop. This enables him to follow his magic tracks the following year. The story is told in child-friendly rhyme, and the illustrations are rich in holiday colors and jolly in emotion.

The book comes with a CD that contains a narrated copy of the book as well as an animated short. Children can read along with the hardcopy in their hands for an interactive experience. For the grand finale, parents and caregivers can peel and stick Santa’s well-designed 15 magic bootprints onto the floor for their children to discover on Christmas morning. For full effect, Beard encourages parents and caregivers to place the footprints by the chimney or a window or a door leading to the presents. The children then get to collect all of the bootprints and send them back in the included North Pole return envelope to Mrs. Claus and the elves, so that they can be turned back into magic dust for the following Christmas. A tip sheet is also included with the book so that families can get the best learning experience and most excitement possible.

Fun for the whole family.
