Perhaps the most amazing part of this digital experience is the fact that the fascinating and educational material can be streamlined to fit a specific reader—the text can be adjusted to match the reader’s ability, which is a brilliant tool for a classroom of children with mixed reading abilities learning the same curriculum. The 5 chapters cover the following topics: Marine Ecosystems, Open Ocean, The Deep Sea, Coastal Waters, and Threats. In these chapters the plants and wildlife, layers of the ocean, and the benefits of the ocean biome are all discussed.
The crew at the Mobile Education Team has really gone above and beyond in making the most of the IOS technology platform to create an iBook that is full of interactive audio and visual enhancements; such as, integrated videos and custom animations, photos, and interactive maps. Having the text and the supporting materials all in one place makes a very safe learning experience. Other benefits include the ability to change the size of the text, convert the text to speech, lookup vocabulary definitions, bookmark pages, take notes, as well as comprehension tests that can be taken at the end of each chapter with results that will be sent to the e-mail inbox of a registered teacher/caregiver. One tip: Before young readers take on this book, it is worth while having a teacher or caregiver take a moment to navigate around the app and visit the settings feature to familiarize themselves and make the most out of every possible feature—this should ensure that young readers won’t get lost in or overwhelmed by all that is available to them.
Simply put, this is a learning experience that caters to all readers from reluctant to precocious and would be a highly beneficial tool for an entire classroom or a homeschooling mom.
