In The Mystery of the Lost Map, readers are introduced to Cowboy Little and Cowboy Small, two brothers that share a thirst for adventure and mischief. This fast-paced tale of cowboys, Native Americans and the Wild West, captivates from the very beginning.
Cowboy Little and Cowboy Small live an idyllic life on the Circle R ranch, with their parents, grandparents and two older brothers. They never go anywhere without their two faithful horses, Ned and Ted; their fleas, Itch and Scratch; their dogs, Red and Fred; and their cattle, Brawny Bull and Helen Heifer. One fateful day, the young cowboys set off on a camping trip at the edge of their family’s land. They are hoping to go exploring to find arrowheads but when they arrive, things at their campsite don’t seem right. There is garbage everywhere and the fire pit has been destroyed. As they boys set out to clean things up, they come across a saddlebag that appears to have been forgotten by whoever was last using their campsite. The boys look into the bag and discover gold pieces, a medical dictionary, some letters and an old map that is close to falling apart. Thus begins the mystery that will consume their imaginations for several months.
With help from their family, a nearby tribe of Hopi native Americans and several knowledgeable friends, the young cowboys decipher the map and set out to find a lost treasure of Spanish coins. Along the way, they encounter bandits, wild animals and treacherous landscapes that keep readers on edge as the story unfolds. Told in a folksy but clever way, this imaginative novel will appeal to young readers, ages 8-12, that enjoy daring adventures with unexpected results.

About the Author
Jim Rhoden is the chairman and principal owner of Futren Hospitality, which owns and manages private clubs and golf clubs in the greater Atlanta area. Throughout his long career, he has developed and managed major real estate projects in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, and believes strongly in giving back to his community.
He is also a talented and prolific storyteller who has amused two generations of kids with tales about his favorite characters, Cowboy Little and Cowboy Small, who love to explore the world around them.
Collaborator Mickey Goodman is a veteran memoirist, ghostwriter, and journalist with more than seven hundred bylined articles in scores of national and regional publications. She has also coauthored five books.
