Remember back when you were young and idealistic and full of vim and vigor to tackle life’s challenges? Sometimes I forget that era before kids, before responsibilities and work and bills to pay. But it’s nice to be reminded of it. In Amigas, Fifteen Candles, author Veronica Chambers tells the story of four friends and a very special Sweet 15 party (or quince as it’s known in Latin America). The friends are planning the quince to end all quinces…but will the end result be a celebration of womanhood or a Latin version of MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen? The author weaves a tale of teenage angst and unrequited love into the preparations for the coming-of-age party. And the drama is tinged with Latin flair. It made for a very entertaining read!
