The Children’s Book Review’s Submission Guidelines
The Children’s Book Review (TCBR) reviews published fiction and non-fiction literature for children and young adults, and other related items such as e-books, audio books, and child/family related products. We accept submissions from publishers, authors, illustrators, and publicists. Submissions are evaluated based on the following particulars: literary value, illustrative quality, and over-all presentation and quality. Our reviews and book lists are always positive because we only appraise those books and products with the strongest potential impact on the reader.
Before submitting your book, product or materials, please familiarize yourself with the kinds of books and products we do review. You may also find this article useful: The Art of Getting Your Children’s Book Reviewed
Please submit your non-returnable work or product with a cover letter of relevant information, and include any press releases or supporting materials. Galleys may be submitted; however, we prefer the finished work. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive, we cannot review every book or product that we receive, we cannot guarantee a timeframe for which a book may be selected for review, and we cannot guarantee a review publish date (except in the case of a Dedicated Review). Additionally, we cannot respond to queries regarding the status of materials submitted for review consideration—if you would like confirmation that your submission has been received, please use delivery confirmation through your mailing service.
Traditional book submissions should be sent to:
The Children’s Book Review
2205 W. 136th Ave.
Broomfield CO, 80023
E-Book submissions can be e-mailed to:
growingreaders (AT) thechildrensbookreview (dot) com
We accept most formats; including PDFs and promo codes. For promo codes with expiration dates, we recommend using our Dedicated Reviews service.
PLEASE NOTE: Our submission guidelines are for informational purposes only and do not constitute a solicitation of any work or materials. Submission of any materials shall be done at the author/illustrator/publisher/publicist’s own risk of loss or damage. No materials submitted will be returned. In the spirit of giving back to the reading community, after book and product submissions have been evaluated, most items are donated to charities, schools, and libraries.
Additional Book Marketing
As we cannot review every book and product that we receive, or guarantee a date for a review (except in the case of a Dedicated Review), we have structured the site in a way that presents you with immediate options to gain publicity for your work.
- TCBR is currently offering ten guaranteed “Dedicated Reviews” each month. A Dedicated Review is our sponsored program that guarantees you a professional and non-biased book or product review with a minimum word count of 250 words.

- We can showcase your book or product as an “author review” through our free Author Showcase Basic. In this case, you can submit a review of your book or product, in your own words, with any images you would like to include. Your review will be edited to meet the site’s editorial standards—so The Children’s Book Review reserves the right to edit, include or not include any content, or a review in its entirety, if it doesn’t meet the needs or purpose of the site.

- You can participate in our popular giveaway program.
- Or, you can place a sponsored product or book advertisement banner which would be displayed on The Children’s Book Review’s home page and all content pages.
