Dr. Philip R. Kennedy releases Get a Move On Neuron! an easy-to-read science book for kids on the brain

Called the “father of the cyborg” by ___, world-renowned neurologist Dr. Philip R. Kennedy knows his way around the brain. Having been featured in Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today and many other newspapers in addition to shows like NPR All Things Considered and Dateline NBC, for his research on the brain and ______, Dr. Kennedy is all too well known in the medical field for his knowledge of the brain and brain development. And, like many gifted with such an abundance of knowledge, Dr, Kennedy decided to pass this knowledge on to the next generation.

His book, Get a Move On, Neuron!, does just that. Using fun examples and vibrant, colorful illustrations, Dr. Kennedy uses the book to explore the inner working of the brain. While reading the book, children are encouraged to be curious, ask questions, and find out exactly how the brain works in a simple, easy-to-understand, and exciting, new way. Following their new friend, who happens to be a neuron, kids are taken on a journey as they learn all about the most amazing computer on earth—the brain.

“My purpose in writing this book was to stimulate the child’s imagination about the brain,” shares Dr. Kennedy. “The 8 to 12 year-old is naturally curious. If this book stimulates just a few children to wonder about the brain, what it is and how it works, then it will have succeeded.”

Get a Move on Neuron! has received raving reviews from the Dr. Joseph Coyle, the former president of the Society for Neuroscience, as well from the Society for Neuroscience’s Education Committee. The book is available online through Amazon.com.

Publisher’s Synopsis: “Get a move on, Neuron!” was born out of my desire to impart to young people, my excitement and fascination for the workings of the human brain. And instill in them a pioneering spirit and vision for future exploration. I’ve simplified, as best I could, the incredible complexities of voluntary and involuntary reasoning and function that occur in virtually every split second of one’s day. By illustrating the role of our lovable neuron, I’ve taken a routine event like Mom’s call to dinner, to provide a rudimentary glimpse into this amazing chain reaction. I hope you enjoy the journey.
