Ready to Fall A NovelReady to Fall

Written by Marcella Pixley

Publisher’s Synopsis: A young adult novel about a teen who finds hope and a fresh start after a terrible loss, and learns that being strong means letting go.

When Max Friedman’s mother dies of cancer, instead of facing his loss, Max imagines that her tumor has taken up residence in his brain. It’s a terrible tenant―isolating him from family, distracting him in school, and taunting him mercilessly about his manhood. With the tumor in charge, Max implodes, slipping farther and farther away from reality.

Finally, Max is sent to the artsy, off-beat Baldwin School to regain his footing. He joins a group of theater misfits in a steam-punk production of Hamlet where he becomes friends with Fish, a girl with pink hair and a troubled past, and The Monk, an edgy upperclassman who refuses to let go of the things he loves. For a while, Max almost feels happy. But his tumor is always lurking in the wings―until one night it knocks him down and Max is forced to face the truth, not just about the tumor, but about how hard it is to let go of the past. At turns lyrical, haunting, and triumphant, Ready to Fall is a story of grief, love, rebellion and starting fresh from acclaimed author Marcella Pixley.

Secret Identities.
Extraordinary Powers.
She wants vengeance. He wants justice.

The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies―humans with extraordinary abilities―who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice―and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to the villains who have the power to end them both.

  • Hi, Bianca: Congratulations on your work with children. I’ve worked with the little ones in schools and libraries many years performing my Aesop’s Fables show (it’s also a CD available @ Amazon and Midwest Tapes) and as a Sunday School teacher – Several years ago I wrote and self-produced an ebook (Onions) for Young Adults and Teens. I’m writing to inquire if you would have time to read Onions and write a review. It was published by Elderberry Press 12/12/12, is 55,890 words in length, in English, and the ISBN # is: 9781301138708. You can find the book at Overdrive, the publisher’s website, Smashwords, E-Bay, Barnes & Noble Nook Book, etc. – I have three plays published by French, a short story published at Twit Publishing (Winter/Spring 2011 edition titled The Schitzle Connection) a song on the Streisand Third Album (Draw Me A Circle) and am working on producing my Children’s Crusade musical. See below. This website contains more information on me and my work. Thanks for your time, Bianca. You must be freezing now in Colorado!
