The Tocks on the Clock: Book Cover

    The Tocks on the Clock

    Written by Jozef K. Richards

    Ages 3-8 | 32 Pages

    Publisher: Kintou Media | ISBN-13: 9781737705604

What to Expect: Imagination, Exploration, Confidence, Rhymes, Telling Time

The Tocks on the Clock is a fun adventure through a land of make-believe.

The Land of the Tocks is full of strange and mysterious creatures to discover—but you must remember the correct order to visit them in! Some of them are scary, like the Yate at eight, who is kept in a crate, or the Dren at ten, who lives in a den. Others are friendly, like the Drix at six, who is busy feeding bananas to her chicks, or the Thevin, who lives at eleven and drinks hot tea and lemon. All of them live together in this magical land, and as you journey through it, you can make your way confidently from 1 am through the day and back to midnight, onwards to the next adventure-filled tomorrow.

Using a clever combination of rhyming text and imaginative narrative, this enjoyable story helps readers learn and memorize the hours on the clock face. The text also introduces readers to new vocabulary, such as “den,” “twine,” and “dune,” while the rhyming text helps readers learn unusual words like “gnu.” Colorful line illustrations are bursting with details to help bring the fairytale land of Tocks to life.

Overall, The Tocks on the Clock is an enjoyable flight of educational fancy.
