The Museum of Lost Teeth: Book Cover

    The Museum of Lost Teeth

    Written by Elyssa Friedland

    Illustrated by Gladys Jose

    Ages 4+ | 40 Pages

Publisher: Abrams Books for Young Readers | ISBN-13: 978-1419757051

What to Expect: Humor, multi-cultural characters (fairies), and loose teeth.

What does the Tooth Fairy do with all those teeth? A question often pondered and finally answered in the book The Museum of Lost Teeth. This unexpected and entertaining story, brought to life by author Elyssa Friedland and illustrator Gladys Jose, provides a simple yet lively answer ready to charm young and old audiences.

Toothy lives in Liam’s mouth next to his best friend, Fang. One day, Toothy notices that he is loose and begins to worry about what will happen to him and where he will go once he leaves his spot next to Fang. A crunchy apple seals the deal—Toothy is off on an adventure with the Tooth Fairy, who takes him to the Museum of Lost Teeth.

Friedland has crafted a book that uses humorous dental puns to provide low-key reassurance for children facing the loss of their first tooth. Jose’s bright and crafty illustrations draw in the readers’ eye and fill the page with comedic energy. With the perfect amount of adult humor and engaging, brightly colored illustrations, The Museum of Lost Teeth is an ideal picture book to read aloud to younger children who will likely clamor to hear it again and again. Older children who are more experienced with the process of tooth loss will find whimsy in the illustrations and be delighted with the dialogue. The book’s endpapers are filled with letters from various Tooth Fairies to their children for added fun.

In The Museum of Lost Teeth, Friedland and Jose have provided a punny and engaging book for kids and the grown-ups who read to them.
