    Baby Go! Mexico: Book Cover

    Baby Go! Mexico

    Written by Vanessa Lee Christensen

    Illustrated by Audrey Lee

    Ages 1+ | 22 Pages

    Publisher: Gloo Books (2025) | ISBN-13: 978-1962351263

What to Expect: Cultural Exploration, Travel, Shapes, Counting, and Spanish Vocabulary.

In this vibrant picture book, readers will embark on a delightful journey through Mexico, experiencing its rich culture through the eyes of a baby.

Baby Go! Off to Mexico! introduces young readers to various facets of Mexican life. Baby observes shapes at significant Mexican sites, such as the Museo Nacional de Antropología and Chichén Itzá. The book then highlights cultural elements such as being carried in a rebozo, children playing in la plaza, and celebrating with a piñata. Baby learns to count while identifying fruits and vegetables, witnesses the migration of monarch butterflies, and enjoys a nap on a boat in Xochimilco. The colorful La Guelaguetza parade is depicted with trumpets, flutes, drums, dancers, and giant puppets. The book concludes with Baby feeling loved through “Besos y abrazos” before it’s “Time to go home. Bye-bye, Baby! ¡Adiós!”

Baby’s journey of cultural discovery is delightfully conveyed through simple, declarative sentences and vivid imagery. The digitally rendered illustrations by Audrey Lee are bright, expressive, and effectively capture the essence of each Mexican scene and cultural element. The use of Spanish words and phrases, such as “¡Hola!,” “rebozo,” “la plaza,” “¡Feliz cumpleaños!,” “piñata,” “uno,” “dos,” “tres,” “cuatro,” “cinco,” “¡Qué rico!,” “Xochimilco,” “La Guelaguetza,” “Besos y abrazos,” “¡Te quiero mucho!,” and “¡Adiós!,” enriches the experience.

Baby Go! Mexico is a creative and memorable tale that teaches children about the sights, sounds, and experiences of Mexico, while also introducing them to basic Spanish vocabulary.
