Freddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard By Janice DeanFreddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard

By Janice Dean; Illustrated by Russ Cox

    Hardback Book: 36 pages

    Age Range: 5 – 9 years

    Publisher: Regnery Kids (2014)

    ISBN: 978-1-62157-254-1

What to expect: Frogs, Weather, Creativity

Freddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard does an excellent job of creating a creative way to get kids interested in learning about the science of weather. This well-written, witty, and crafty tale tells the story of Freddy taking a school trip to the Frog News Network (FNN). While at the FNN, Freddy notices a big blizzard blowing in and jumps to the rescue by creating blizzard kits for the weather team. This story not only makes the science of weather interesting, but it teaches the importance of great core values such as perseverance. It also prepares kids to be proactive in their own life, by providing a “Winter Storm Checklist”.

This a highly creative story with colorful illustrations that provide additional interest for kids. Overall, it’s a fun and imaginative book that will inspire an interest in learning more about weather and emergency preparedness—kids won’t even realize they are being taught.

Freddy the Frogcaster and the Big Blizzard is a great fun-filled learning tool for children ages 5 to 10!
