Melody and the Magic Music Box: Book Cover

Melody and the Magic Music Box

    Written by Tim Tivis

    Ages: 4-6 | 22 Pages

Publisher: Dream Loud Publishing (2025) | ISBN: 9798218832032

What to Expect: Music, magical quest, self-belief, kindness, courage, helping others.

In this lovely picture book, readers will go on a journey of self-discovery and hope alongside a young protagonist with a big dream.

Melody dreams of being a great Songkeeper—and when the King announces a singing contest to try and bring back the happiness of the Princess Harmony, it looks like her chance has come. The King has proclaimed that whoever makes the Princess smile will be proclaimed the Grandest Songkeeper of them all. Although she doesn’t think she could possibly be good enough to win, Melody is encouraged by Mrs. Treble, the orphanage house mother, to try anyway. And Mrs. Treble was right—it turns out Melody’s voice and song were just what the Princess needed. By being brave, Melody returned happiness to the Princess—and to all the kingdom!

Although she is both young and an orphan, Melody has a big heart and a beautiful voice, and she shows readers that anyone can achieve their dreams if they are willing to try hard. The story also teaches essential messages about caring for others and spreading joy, reminding us that music is one of the most powerful tools we have for connecting with other humans. The text is simple and easy to read, in a decorative font with elaborate scrollwork that feels majestic, and the hand-drawn artwork depicts fairytale scenes that emphasize the magic of music. Discussion prompts at the end of the story offer a perfect opportunity for exploring the main themes further.

Melody and the Magic Music Box is a sweet fairytale story that is sure to inspire young readers to do some singing of their own!

    About the Author

Tim Tivis is a lifelong educator, speaker, and storyteller with more than 41 years of entrepreneurial experience. He has trained thousands of people—from small businesses and community banks to large universities—through programs he developed in both classroom and video formats.

When he’s not teaching or speaking, Tim can often be found making music. A professional musician for the past 19 years, he loves sharing songs just as much as he enjoys sharing stories. As a father of two boys and a grandfather of four, Tim’s greatest inspiration comes from his family. His love for music and his desire to help children grow in confidence led him to create a magical children’s picture book series filled with music, imagination, and important life lessons. Through his books, Tim hopes every child discovers the courage to believe in themselves and the joy of doing what’s right.
