A speed interview with Katie Frawley, author of Tabitha and Fritz Trade Places
    The Children’s Book Review

Katie Frawley grew up on a diet of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and Madeline. She went on to earn a bachelor’s in English from the University of Florida and a master’s in literature from Florida Atlantic University. These days, Katie lives in South Florida with her husband, four children, and a handsome mutt named Nantucket. When she’s not reading or writing, Katie can be found building pillow forts, testing recipes with her teensy sous-chefs, or shooing iguanas from her garden.

Which five words best describe Tabitha and Fritz Trade Places?

Katie Frawley: Funny, adventuresome, bright, surprising, and sweet!

Can you share a highlight from the book? Or maybe your thoughts on, or an excerpt of, your favorite sentence, paragraph, or page?

My favorite page is the airport spread toward the end of the book. I can stare and stare at that page, and always find something new and hilarious to enjoy!

What has been the most rewarding reaction from a reader so far?

Someone on Twitter reached out to share that her son is now writing “paper emails” to his friends, and he always includes a postscript! It’s a generally acknowledged fact that postscripts are the very best part of any letter.

Please share your thoughts on why you feel books like Tabitha and Fritz Trade Places are great additions to a child’s home library.

In a time where a lot of us are having to spend more time at home than we might like, taking an imaginary vacation with two globe-trotting animals might be just what the doctor ordered!

For your writing energy: sugar or salt, tea or coffee?

Coffee, coffee, and coffee. Also coffee.

Writing tools: computer, pen and paper, or all of the above?

Pen and paper for ideas / brainstorming. Computer for drafting and revising.

What’s on your nightstand? Any books?

I just started Neil Gaiman’s STARDUST. His world building is so completely engrossing. I just love it!

What’s the last thing you experienced that made you laugh or cry?

I found a love letter my daughter wrote to herself “from” my husband. The letter complimented her hair and how sweet and helpful she is. Needless to say, my husband is writing her a love letter today that is ACTUALLY from him. She’s so stinking cute.

Can you tell us something that even your most loyal fans may not know about you?

In general I am cool as a cucumber…unless I am playing a trivia-based game. Then I become a rabid animal, intent on the utter destruction of my opponents.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I love, love, love hearing from my readers (child OR adult). If you enjoy TABITHA AND FRITZ TRADE PLACES and would like to say hello, you can tweet me @KatieFrawley1 or you can reach out via my website (www.katiefrawley.com). And thank you for reading!

We had a cat named Tabitha and the grandchildren have heard me talk about her all the time like they have the other pets while their dad was growing up. They would love to hear their parents read this to them at night so I would love to get this for them .
