Stargazing for Kids: An Introduction to Astronomy

    Written by Jonathan Poppele

    Ages: 8-12 | 176 Pages

    Publisher: Adventure Publications (2022) | ISBN: 978-1-64755-134-6

What to Expect: Science, Stars, Astronomy, Solar System, and Space.

Written and illustrated by an experienced naturalist, Stargazing for Kids offers a comprehensive and interactive introduction to astronomy. It contains everything a reader needs to get hooked and then dive deep into this fascinating science.

You don’t need a spaceship to explore outer space. You don’t need a spacesuit or astronaut training. In fact, all you really need to do to get to know the universe beyond our planet is to look up! As soon as the light fades, the sky becomes a canvas painted with stars, constellations of which have guided travelers, inspired writers and storytellers, and revealed secrets to scientists. It’s a picture that changes with the years and seasons, and by studying the stars, we also look back in time at the origins and history of our universe. There’s always more to learn and see when you become a stargazer!

A constellation field guide provides maps and practical tips for spotting different constellations through the changing seasons, while informational chapters teach readers about the science of stars, planets, galaxies, and more. The label “What can I see?” throughout the volume guides readers to turn their gaze from the pages to the sky as they read, applying their new knowledge to the night sky. Photographs of the sky, planets, and astronomical activities are coupled with scientific diagrams and illustrations, allowing readers to clearly visualize the concepts and celestial bodies being studied.

Stargazing for Kids is perfect for readers who love space, need a new hobby, or want to build their scientific skills and knowledge.
