The Lost Forest Trilogy: Legacy of the Golden Bird

    Written by Lainey Miles

    Ages: 10+ | 246 Pages

Publisher: Innovative Ghost Writers (2024) | ISBN: 979-8332706899

What to Expect: Magic, adventure, family, friendship, courage.

In this high fantasy young adult novel, readers will be transported to a world of magical creatures, where brave heroes, including the gallant Sir Charles and determined Princess Salair, stand against the forces of darkness in magnificent palaces and the depths of the Dark Forest.

Things are not going so well for the House of Pishtar. In the Dark Forest, Prince Drouck of the rival Helve dynasty is working hard to take the throne he sees as rightfully his, and now the King and Queen have mysteriously vanished. The only hope of the kingdom lies with the famous warrior and military strategist, Sir Charles, who has long since gone into hiding, and Princess Salair loses no time in seeking him out.

She finds more than just the famous hero, however; Sir Charles has a rare and mysterious golden bird, a key to a secret that may hold the protection of the Forest, if they can uncover its secrets before Drouck and his army of Manras destroy everything they hold dear.

Sir Charles is a classic knight-in-shining armor, both gallant and fierce, and he makes an excellent foil to Princess Salair’s gentle determination. Readers will enjoy seeing the mystery of the golden bird unfold even as the accumulation of dark forces ramps up the tension. Miles’ rich descriptions of the fantasy world are fit for readers who like to feel immersed in a magical environment, from the sumptuous interior of Sir Charles’ castle to the horrifying monsters of the Dark Forest. Parents are advised that the story contains descriptions of interrogation and of Japanese culture that not all readers will find acceptable, so parental review is recommended.

The Lost Forest Trilogy: Legacy of the Golden Bird is an imaginative and complex fantasy-adventure story.
