Willa and the Bear
Written and Illustrated by Philomena O’Neill
Publisher’s Synopsis: More than anything, Willa adores her ragdoll, Rosie, made just for her by Grandma. Together, through the seasons, they picnic, pick berries, and jump in piles of leaves. But one winter’s day, on a bumpy sleigh ride to Grandma’s birthday dinner, Rosie falls into the snow and disappears. Willa is inconsolable—and not even a new gift from Grandma helps. Then, mysteriously, Rosie reappears at Grandma’s door. Can Willa find a way to thank the special friend who returned her doll? With its charming folk-style illustrations, this beautiful picture book will warm the heart of every child who has ever had a favorite, beloved toy.

This sounds and looks adorable. Having seven kids someone was always losing something. But one time in particular, my son was inconsolable because he couldn’t find his favorite red matchbox car. After searching the house, the garbage, hamper we headed off to the park where we were earlier. Nothing. When we got home I told him we’d buy another one. He didn’t want it because it wouldn’t be his favorite. So being upset, he plopped down hard on his bed and lo and behold his car dropped to the floor. It had slipped down between the mattress and bed frame. No more tears. :)1
I volunteer at our community library. Our funding to add to our book collection is very modest. I hope to win to share with the children who come to story time at the library.
This book looks like a street take that I think my niece would love.
I want to win this giveaway because my daughter would love this book to read. My daughter lost her real looking baby doll at the Water park on a ride. She cried her eyes out, but we looked for it for an hour and finally found it! She was so happy and thrilled!
This wonderful giveaway would be very special for my grandsons, bothers, who enjoy reading so much and the fun story as well. What a treasure this would be for them.
I would like to win this prize package for my grandmother. She enjoys children’s books and loves shopping at Target.
Would love to win this for my beautiful granddaughter.
I’d love to read this to my kids. We love all books!
What a sweet story. I’d love to share this book with my niece. I have tender memories of the time we went on vacation to San Diego, which was about three hours from home, and left my favorite “blankie” there. When we got home at the end of vacation and my parents were putting me to bed, no blankie. The story goes that I was bereft, certain I could not sleep, and my dad called the motel and immediately drove back down there to retrieve it. It’s only now that I’m an adult and can relate to how exhausted he must have been that I appreciate what a kindness it was and wonder if I would have been so generous. But I remember the feeling of joy at being reunited with my soft, holey blankie.
I would like to win it for my 5 grand children. I would read it to them.
I would love this giveaway because it sounds like a wonderful story!
I’d like to win it
I would love to win this for my grandson who loves book and teddy bears.
I want to win this prize because it sounds like a great story with nice illustrations. One time a favorite stuffed toy was lost for months. Somehow it had gotten smashed between the mattress and the side of the bed.
Love to share this with my Grandchildren! I lost my Favorite Bear Moving out of my parents house. Heart Broken
I want to win this book for our nieces. Our daughter was playing in the edge of the woods at my parents house with her uncle and she laid her bear down. She forgot about it , we found teddy B about a week later.
I would love to win this for my grandchildren . They are avid readers which makes me so happy Yes I can remember the turmoil and heartache when my granddaughter lost her baby doll and the joy when we found ir!
My granddaughter will be 5 on 10/26. She would really enjoy this. A Target gift card would evase my stretched budget from medical bills.
My daughter left her stuffed “Sheepy” in our hotel room and when we got home later that night, we searched everything for it because sleeping without Sheepy was going to be difficult for my daughter (Sheepy had to go everywhere) I called the hotel. They checked the lost and found, the room, then found it in the laundry. They immediately mailed it to us and Sheepy and my daughter were reunited. Happy Ending.
Such a nice offer. Remember the Christmas that my nephew forgot Curious George at Granny’s. George had to be mailed from West Virginia to North Carolina to avert sleepless nights.
me i have bears and the kid love doll and bears and truck and to give this to the neighbor sone he going thorugh a lot i got the girl some thing and now te i got 3 more boys and one girl to five them gifts
My great niece and nephew would enjoy this.
I would love to win this for my daughter. the worst event ever was when my daughter lost her Nig-night doll. It was a little rag doll she had had since the day she was born. We went to the movies and she did not realize it was still there until a few hours later. She was freaking out. Thank goodness the theater had it.
I read to my 3 younger kids every night and they would love this story. My daughter used to carry around her favorite baby doll and left it at the park one time. We didn’t realize until we got home and had to race back to the park. Thank goodness someone had left it on the picnic table there. My daughter was so happy
I think it would be a great story of friendship, caring & love. I’d like to read it with my kids, who love books.
I’m a foster mom, so I’m always on the lookout for children of all ages. Sadly, when they leave, I always let them take their favorites so they can take a little piece of their time with my family…..I love those kids, I wish I could keep them all!! 🙂
I would like to win because Gund toys are the best and the story sounds very nice.
Marion
I lost my favorite rabbit stuffed animal that I used to carry with me wherever I went when my parents were getting a divorce. I still don’t know where I left it.
I would give this to my grandaughter
My kids would love this
This happens all the time and I have to look for them everything!
For my daughter it was the trauma of losing a favorite hat. I think she must of been 3 and it fell out of the car during a grocery shopping trip. She remembers and reminds me of it to this day, how I wouldn’t go back that night and search 2 snow filled parking lots. She’s 27 now and it still bugs her. lol
Our family would absolutely love this prize pack! A very tiny stuffed rabbit was lost and the whole family spent an entire day looking for it! Now a certain someone ALWAYS sleeps with the little rabbit underneath her pillow so that he never gets lost again
I left a book in a hotel room once and was so disappointed to come home without it!
Yes, When my son was in middle school he had gotten a gameboy He was told he could not take to school because the rules at home were he couldn’t well he did anyway and his teacher took it from him because he had it out during class she gave it back to him months later at the end of the school year!
I think every parent understands the frustration of a forgetful child and the resulting heartbreak it can cause. Finally a book (and prize pack) for us all…
my kids would love this! looks so cute. once my son lost a veggie tales toy at a hotel on christmas…..we went back to the same motel a year later and had the same room and he found it under the bed!!
My grandson lost his favorite stuffed animal when we went for a walk on our local greenway. We didn’t realize it fell out of the stroller until we were all the way back to our car. We had to walk another 2 miles to get it and come back to the car again. Luckily it was still laying on the ground.
So far my children(now grown) and my grandchildren have yet to lose their favorite toys. My daughters still have their favorite toys that were bought for them the day they were born. One is 30 and the youngest is 26.
It wasn’t a toy, but a baby bottle. I threw it out the car window and my mom didn’t realize it. Oops!
I’d like to have this because we love adding new books to our home library.
I want to win this for my son and I. We love books and I love the story theme of this book. My son lost his favorite little stuffed dog, but later found it under one of our tables.
My kids love to read!
Am just getting started reading books to children and this looks like a great one to have in my limited library. Hoping that it will soon be there and the children will enjoy the story.
I am a special education teacher and an aunt. I would love to win this book!
Well, I’d like to win this giveaway for two reasons. First, I’d love to be able to give the book to my great niece, Cora. This would be a great book for me to read to her and help me bond with her. Secondly, I could really use the Target gift card! I have a list of things I want to get from there, so this would really help!
I would love to win this awesome prize pack because the book sounds like a fun one to read to my little nieces and they would love to have a cute Gund teddy bear and the Target card would be wonderful so I can get another teddy bear so they don’t fight over the teaddy bear!
I’m a librarian and I’m always looking for great books to add to the collection!
I’d love to win this to give to my niece. She enjoys being read to and we’d use the gift card to pick something out for Christmas for her.
I would use this towards Christmas gifts for my daughter.
This looks really cute. I had a favorite jointed bear that was a replica of the original Teddy Bear made for Teddy Roosevelt as a child I loved it so much!
What a beautiful story. I have my favorite Teddy from when I was little. I would love to share this book with my students.
For My Daughter.
I would love to win because both my daughters would love it !
I would love to win this for a Christmas donation to the Salvation Army Angel Tree.
The twins will soon be three and this book would make a beautiful gift for them. The Target card would be great for birthday gifts too.
I want to win because I think this would become one of my kids favorites! My daughter has a small cow pillow named Hippo. We thought we lost it one time and it was devastating. We ended up finding him quickly, but in order to avoid that ever happening permanently, we bought another one who lives in our closet 🙂
I want to win this one for the kids for Christmas.
I want to win this for my kids
I would love to win for my grandkids. I’ll never forget the time my youngest son lost his bunny. We looked everywhere and still could not find it.
We did find the exact bunny and were able to introduce new bunny.
I would love this book for my niece because it sounds like a wonderful story!
My Granddaughter enjoys reading, and she recently lost her favorite stuffed, one eyed owl, named Ice Cream.
I know Bears are very special toys. They make you feel brave when you are afraid. You know they are strong when you feel weak. They like to be hugged. Yes I remember a time I lost my toy and it was a stuffed bear my big brother gave me. It was his bear, but he gave it to me when I was about six because the walking doll my parents bought me for Christmas did not work. Then my Dad trying to fix that doll broke it’s legs off to the point they couldn’t be put back on. My big brother felt sorry for me and gave me his bear (it was his only stuffed animal). He did not want me to be sad on Christmas. He knew our parents did not have the money to go and buy me another doll. I lost that poor bear about six months later to our cat. I guess our male cat Fuzzy got jealous of the bear and grabbed onto it one day and ran all over the house, up and down the stairs. He shredded it with his teeth and claws. No one could get near the Fuzzy because he’d take off with the Bear gripped between his teeth if anyone of us tried to get near to rescue the Bear. I think the problem was I named the Bear Fuzzy and the cat was already named Fuzzy. As a child I didn’t know that would be a problem, but I think the cat really identified with his name and the thought that something else had stolen his name just made him flip his lid, well for that day it did. After the Bear, which was unable to be mended at all, was deceased, the cat settled back down to his nice old self. I know this sounds far fetched, but it really did happen.
