What to expect: Bravery, monsters, flip-flopped fairy tale

Author and illustrator Bethan Woollvin, creator of the wildly popular LITTLE RED and delightfully cheeky HANSEL AND GRETEL, is back with a new fairy tale, BO THE BRAVE!

Wholly original and twisted, this new fairy tale features Bo. She’s small, lives in a castle, and has two older brothers who aren’t always the nicest. When they decide to go on a hunt for monsters, she asks to join them. “You’re far too little,” one says, and off they go on an adventure.

But it doesn’t take long for Bo to realize she can go and have her own adventures. She leaves the castle with her supplies and sets off to find the biggest, baddest monster of all. Instead, she finds interesting creatures, friendship, and understanding. And in true Woollvin style, Bo has a snappy (but fun!) ending for her mean older brothers!

With Woollvin’s signature bold color palette and intriguing illustrations, Bo springs to life from the page. There are tiny details you’ll catch in subsequent readings and adorable scenes of Bo meeting “monsters” who turn out not to be so monstrous after all.

A fun read for a class during storytime or at home during playtime, BO THE BRAVE will delight young readers with its message of empowerment. You’ll laugh, you’ll think, you’ll love BO THE  BRAVE!
