    Mrs. R. Snugglesworth

    Mrs. R. Snugglesworth, Attorney-at-Law

    Written by Amy Flanagan

    Illustrated by Jon Davis

    Ages 5+ | 90 Pages

    Publisher: Whitefox | ISBN-13: 9781915036094

What to Expect: Pets, law, problem-solving, friendship, and challenging oneself

Written from the point of view of a big-hearted, sassy retriever, Mrs. R. Snugglesworth is a hilarious dog’s-eye exploration of family, friendship, and problem-solving.

Mrs. R. Snugglesworth isn’t just a “butter-colored English Labrador Retriever”—she’s also a champion sprinkler-sprinter, an ace at drinking out of mud puddles, and a pretty dab hand at loving ham. However, when she realizes she’s bored, she decides to challenge herself with a new endeavor—law school. It’s a bit more challenging than expected; she’s partnered with the annoying Maple Lane and her allergies spoil her being-invisible practice. Nevertheless, when she learns that her friend Pitter-Patter is in trouble, she is determined to help. He needs a lawyer. She won’t let a technicality like being unqualified stop her from stepping in!

Mrs. R. is full of personality, and readers will love her tongue-in-cheek commentaries on what the humans get up to. Adorable black-and-white pen-and-ink illustrations are scattered throughout the story, adding more humor, mainly through the dogs’ body language. On top of the entertainingly silly humor, some important morals are woven through—confidence (and over-confidence), caring for others, and making the best of difficult situations.

Mrs. R. Snugglesworth is a delightful chapter book, perfect for anyone who loves dogs or just a good, tangled comedy.

Amy Flanagan is an Instructional Designer and children’s author living with her family in the Chicago suburb of Batavia. She began writing Mrs. R. Snugglesworth, Attorney-at-Law in early 2021 to stay busy during the long pandemic winter. She wanted to create something that would make kids (and adults) laugh out loud. She is already working on the second book in the “Mrs. R.” series. Like you, she wonders what the ‘R’ stands for.
