    Dan Yaccarino | The Children’s Book Review | July 7, 2017

Get to know Morris Mole from Dan Yaccarino’s picture book Morris Mole, a heartwarming tale about finding your own courage.

The Children’s Book Review: What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Morris Mole: My growling stomach! I’m always hungry when I wake up.

I see you have a bag with you. Will you tell us what you keep inside of it?

I always have a book with me. I love to read and learn about new things. I also have a snack or two!

Are you hungry right now? Can we fix you anything to eat? Maybe we could make you your favorite dish?

Yes! I’m starved. I’d love a big big bowl of grubs and worms, but if you don’t have any, then a peanut butter and jelly sandwich will do.

How much do you like to read?

I LOVE to read. I read every day. Sometimes I’ll read 2 or even 3 books a day.

Do you have a favorite song?

My favorite song is Happy Birthday because sometimes when I hear it, it’s my birthday.

Are you a rule follower or rule breaker?

I try my best to be a rule follower, but sometimes you have to break the rules just a little bit.

When was the last time you felt embarrassed?

I felt embarrassed when I got a whole stack of books off the shelves of the library and I realized I forgot my library card!

If you weren’t answering the questions in this interview right now, what would you be doing?

I would probably be digging somewhere.

Do you have any secrets you would like to share with us before you go?

Sometimes I sleep with a book under my pillow.
