ABC Diario: Cada día te quiero de la A a la Z

    Written by Nohra Bernal

    Illustrated by Rubén Rodríguez Ferreira

    Ages: 2-6 | 32 Pages

    Publisher: Arreboles (2025) | ISBN-13: 978-1954548107

What to Expect: Family love, alphabet learning, bilingual literacy, daily affection, and parent-child bonding.

In ABC Diario, author Nohra Bernal and illustrator Rubén Rodríguez Ferreira create a heartwarming Spanish-language picture book that transforms alphabet learning into a tender exploration of how love fills every moment of family life.

The book explores a simple yet profound concept: each letter of the alphabet represents a distinct way to express love and care throughout the day. From “A” for abrazo (hug) and “B” for beso (kiss) to “C” for canto (I sing to you), the book walks through a full spectrum of loving actions that parents and children share. The narrative moves through daily routines—reading books together by morning and night, playing imaginative games, preparing special foods, and asking curious questions—showing how ordinary moments become extraordinary through intentional affection.

What elevates this book beyond a simple alphabet primer is its emphasis on presence and mindfulness in parenting. Bernal doesn’t just list activities; she celebrates the gift of time spent together, the magic of shared imagination, and the comfort of consistent love. The book culminates beautifully with “Z” for sleep and dreams, then circles back with the promise of tomorrow’s fresh alphabet of love.

Perfectly complementing the intimate tone are Rodríguez Ferreira’s gentle black-and-white sketches accented by warm red highlights, with each scene capturing authentic family interactions—from kitchen conversations to bedtime stories—with a warmth that transcends language barriers. Ferreira’s artistic style feels hand-drawn and personal, like pages from a family journal, reinforcing the book’s message about the importance of treasuring everyday moments.

Perfect for Spanish-speaking families or those introducing children to Spanish, ABC Diario serves multiple purposes: reinforcing the alphabet, building vocabulary, and, most importantly, modeling how love can be intentionally woven into daily life. The book works beautifully as a bedtime ritual or daily reading practice, inviting families to find their own “A to Z” expressions of care. It’s a gentle, purposeful book that reminds us love isn’t just felt—it’s actively practiced, letter by letter, day by day.
